A letter to my rainbow on the even of her first birthdayDear Little Rainbow,
I swear I haven't slept. I haven't missed a moment. The nights have been long. The days have stretched longer and longer over these last few months. Yet, here we are on the eve of your first birthday. Your bath is done. You smell so sweet. As I nurse you to sleep one last time as an 11-month-old I can't help but sit here in absolute disbelief that a time that seemed to string on forever happened so fast. It is the ultimate oxymoron. Please bear with me as I learn to run this website. I hope to provide relatable content to develop a community of advocate and support.
This song was composed by Shane Yoder in memory of our boys, Logan and Marek. He wrote the lyrics based on our family. You can find more of his work and possibly have something created for yourself at:
puttheminasong.com You can also find a podcast we did to tell more of our backstory on his show, The Root Note. |
The face behind the writingI am a wife and mother to 3. However, I am only raising my one rainbow baby. I have an incompetent cervix and my first two children passed away. I received a transabdomminal cerclage and have since gained my daughter. I am a new SAHM who is trying to navigate the postpartum life, and all that entails. I am raising my little trying to figure out what my motherhood looks like for me as I find joy in the present while always feeling the emptiness that remains in the space where my boys should be. Grief and Joy can co-exist. I am proof.
